Your text should be printed with the paper in portrait orientation, have a minimum of 3/4 inch margins all around, and should have a title page.
Our Basic Prices are based upon delivery of hard copy(s) of the text(s) to Royal Bookbinders. Your text should be printed with the paper in portrait orientation, have a minimum of 3/4 inch margins all around, and should have a title page. Also, you may want to include several blank pages at the end of the text, as in the case of binding a family history. You can also email your project to us as a PDF file, in which case we can quote you a price on doing the printing for you. If you have an unusual project, then please do not hesitate to contact us and we can discuss your specific requirements.
Generally, though, the project you send us will be printed on standard letter size paper, in portrait orientation, with the above mentioned 3/4 inch margins. However, If your project is not very thick, then consider widening all the margins, this will increase the number of pages and consequently thicken your project, making for a more pleasing book to hold and to use.
Books come in all different sizes, but along with the 8.5 x11 inch (letter-size) format, another common size is the 6 x 9 inch format. To produce a book of these dimension, just set both of the left and right margins to 2 inches and both the top and bottom margins to 1.75 inches and print as usual with the paper in portrait orientation. We will then trim the pages so that the end result is a 6 x 9 inch book with 3/4 inch margins. Just remember, though, we do custom book binding, and any finished size you request is what we will produce for you.
You should also give some consideration as to paper quality. First, the paper should be non-glossy. Second, typical photocopy paper is classified as 20 lb paper and, although economical, it can be a bit transparent, even for single sided printing, and definitely too light weight for double sided printing. For double sided printing, or for a generally better quality single sided print out, then consider using a 26 or 28 lb paper.
Now, all that remains is for you to review our basic price structure, choose your book cloth, end sheets, head bands and embellishments, and then to contact us.
